Moving with Kids -- Stress Free

Mayflower Transit tells us that the typical mover is a family, married, between ages 25 and 44, and has two children between ages 2 and 11.  If this description fits your family, you will really appreciate the following great ideas for reducing the stress on your kids when you move.  Start with a positive attitude! Create a music playlist to listen to while you pack and drive to your new home.
  • Let each child choose a new decoration (e.g., poster, light switch, artwork) for their new room
  • Allow them to choose a special outfit and toy to keep with them on "move day" - provides them a sense of stability and focus
  • If the child has a special dish, include it in the "Open Me First" kitchen box so it awaits them at their new place
  • Consider unpacking their rooms first, or at least their "Open Me First" boxes to help them get settled in.
